Gestalt Psychotherapy in Glossop, Central Manchester and online
“Forces beyond your control can take away everything you possess except one thing, your freedom to choose how you will respond to the situation.”
Dr Viktor Frankl
About me
My name is Paul Whitehead. I'm a Gestalt Therapist working in Glossop, central Manchester and online.
You may be here because you’re stuck, feeling cut off, anxious, depressed, or have an ever-present feeling that there must be more to life than this. I’ve been there too, and know that psychotherapy can really help.
Our initial sessions will build a picture of what brings you to therapy, and what you hope to gain. You may have a clear idea or simply feel something isn’t right and want professional input to discover more. However you arrive, I offer an open, accepting and caring space where you can explore anything worrying or holding you back.
With a background as a mindfulness and meditation teacher and ordained Buddhist, I integrate body and breath awareness techniques and compassion-focused practices with traditional talking therapy methods. I often work in the "here and now" encouraging you to focus on what you're experiencing as you share it with me. In turn, I’ll offer my own reflections to help deepen our understanding. This process fosters greater awareness of how you contribute to your circumstances and how you're influenced by others and your environment.
My approach is particularly helpful for people who are self-aware but feel stuck in their thoughts, struggle with anxiety, or find themselves trapped in cycles of overthinking. I also help those navigating trauma, depression and shame, who may feel unsure of where to turn.
I have a a particular interest and expertise in supporting people with grief, bereavement and other significant transitions in their life and those who may be confronting spiritual or religious problems or crises.
